What this shows: dutching two outcomes at one bookmaker gives the same result as a double chance bet, minus or plus a little rounding in the prices. Dutching the home win and the draw beat the bookmaker's own double chance price on only 35.0% of matches; usually the double chance price was slightly better. Dutching pays off when you take each outcome at a different bookmaker with the best price, which is where the margin table above comes in.

Method: the latest pre-match price per bookmaker for 5,474 matches since 3 July 2026. Margin = sum of 1 divided by each price, minus 100%. "Best prices" = margin when taking the best price per outcome across bookmakers; "Surebets" = share of matches where that dropped below zero.

What is dutching?

Dutching means spreading your stake over several selections in one event, so each winner pays out the same amount. It suits markets where you expect one of a few outcomes, such as correct scores, first goalscorers or a handful of runners in a race.

Worked example

Three correct scores at 4.00, 6.00 and 8.00 with a total stake of 50:

SelectionOddsStakeReturn
1-04.0023.0892.31
2-16.0015.3892.31
2-08.0011.5492.31

If one of the three scores comes in, you collect 92.31, a profit of 42.31. If none of them does, you lose the 50.

Dutching or surebet?

Dutching covers some outcomes, so you can still lose. A surebet covers every outcome at odds that guarantee a profit.

❓ FAQ

How are dutching stakes calculated?

Each stake is the total stake times (1 / odds) divided by the sum of 1 / odds of all selections. Every winner then returns the same amount.

Is dutching profitable?

Only if your selections together win more often than the odds suggest. The market % shows the combined implied probability of your selections.

How many selections can I dutch?

The calculator takes up to 8 selections. The more you add, the lower the profit per winner.

Is dutching the same as double chance?

At one bookmaker, almost. Dutching the home win and the draw gives about the same price as a double chance 1X bet; in our data the double chance price was usually slightly better. Dutching only beats it when you take the best price for each outcome at different bookmakers.
